Dance Fusion 1 and Dance Fusion 2
These classes are designed for students as young as 3 years old and are set up as Jazz/Tap/Ballet combo class. This provides the students with exposure to multiple dance forms. Children learn the joy of expressing themselves through movement, song and dance in these exciting classes! No experience required.
Beginning Jazz and Intermediate Jazz
These classes are designed to showcase a dancer’s individual style and originality. Consisting of high energy and upbeat popular music, students will learn how to combine fast, intricate footwork, graceful spins and aerobic floor work. Students will also learn technique and strengthen their ability to learn high-end choreography. This class is separated into a beginning section and an intermediate section.
Beginning/Intermediate Lyrical Jazz and Advanced Lyrical Jazz
Lyrical Jazz is a deep, personal, emotional dance that is known by its connected and graceful movement of the body. It is a specific style of jazz that connects movement and music together by illustrating emotion through each movement. This class separated into a beginning/intermediate section and an advanced section.
Intermediate/Advanced Leaps and Turns
Technique is an important component in every dancers repertoire, as it enhances all of the student’s dance styles. This class will break down all turns and leaps. This class is highly recommended for any student who is interested in Lyrical Jazz and Ballet.
Beginning Hip-hop
(Ages 16+)
Partner Hip-hop
(Adults) This class is not just for couples! Bring a friend, or come on your own. We will learn choreography as a whole group and during the class split up into two groups to learn partner sections.
R & B Hip-hop
(Adults) Groove to the latest R&B hits by learning top-notch hip-hop choreography. Most popular class of summer 2009!
Kidz Hip-hop
(Ages 7+) For kids who want to learn upbeat choreography to music of their time and basic break dancing moves.
Kidz Intro to Breakin’, Beginning Breakin’ and Intermediate/Advanced Breakin’
Lou Lynner; a very talented break-dancer and instructor will teach this class. This hour-and-a-half class will begin with conditioning to strengthen the upper body and core. Throughout the class, students will learn basic break-dancing as well as some power moves that require skill and patience. This class is separated into three different sections: Kidz Intro to Breakin’, Beginning Breakin’, and Intermediate/Advanced Breakin’.
Conditioning for Dancers
This class focuses on strengthening specific muscle groups associated with dancing. It combines ideas from Yoga,Tai Chi and breakdancing, all in a relaxed setting. Students learn to hold their body in complex positions while maintaining a proper breathing cycle. This class is highly recommended for breakdancing students who want to strengthen their body to hit that ultimate power move!
Ballet 2
This class is taught by Cecilia LaBrasseur, a highly trained ballet and modern dancer. This class will give students precise technique by teaching alignment, placement, balance and elegance.
Conditioning & Technique
(Adults) Focusing on toning the dancers body, this high-energy training will consist of an intensive ballet barre, abdominal conditioning and fast-paced jazz combinations to get your body in shape and improve your overall technique.
Musical Theatre
This class incorporates the practice of dancing, singing, and acting techniques, with set and prop design thrown in. Using music from Broadway shows and much more! This class is for ages 7 and up.
Pop-n-Lock Hip-hop
Based on the technique of quick muscle contraction and relaxation, students will learn how to isolate specific body sections and muscle groups, and create a “pop” and “lock” to the rhythm. This class will focus on hitting certain beats and sounds with your body, and creating a visual musicality through syncopated rhythms.
Old School Hip-hop
Throw up your hands to some classic old-school hip hop tracks! In this class, students will learn new choreography to early hip-hop songs, incorporating certain moves of the past! Sure to be a hit!
Breakdancing Power Moves
This class teaches students, step by step, the technique necessary to achieve the ultimate Power Move! These moves are not easy, as they require patience, physical power and flexibility. Some examples of common Power Moves are the windmill, swipe, head spin, and flare. The instructor draws concepts from gymnastics, martial arts and dance, and combines them to show breakers how to advance in the art.
Breakdancing Top Rocks
Before you go on the floor, you gotta warm up! Every breaker beings with a Top Rock; a series of steps performed in an upright position. This is the first impression of a breaker, and must be done with style, clarity and expression. It allows the dancer to feel out the beat, and prepare for the upcoming moves. If you want to be a breaker, this is the first step. This class is guaranteed to ROCK the dance floor!
Yoga
This class consists of a one hour of stretching, lengthening , spinal twisting and strengthening. With combined techniques of ashtanga and kundalini yoga, this class will increase your flexibility, provide an intense cardio workout and increase your overall mental discipline.
