Studio Policies
Studio Drop Off and Pick Up:
Child Care is not available on studio premises. Dancers and parents should not arrive more than 10 minutes before their scheduled class. Do not leave your dancer outside the studio before class starts. Unity and their teachers are not liable for your child’s supervision outside of class time.
Dancers under the age of 13, should be picked up at dismissal time. We encourage all our students to wait inside the studio unless you and your child have made arrangements for pick up. The parking lot tends to have a lot of fast moving vehicles driving through which always concerns me with our youth classes. Please be aware that our parking lot is very small, each business is allowed three spots in front of their storefront. We are, however, allowed to utilize the overflow parking in front of JX POP and Pursue Fitness. Please be respectful of parking in front of other businesses.
Registration:
Our dance season runs September - mid June. Many of our classes reach max capacity and if there is a class you were unable to get enrolled in we encourage you to sign up for the waitlist. It is usually the first three weeks where classes tend to change around and spots may open up. Registration is $30 for a single dancer or $40 for a family. This fee is collected from all incoming dancers regardless of what month you begin and is not prorated. We also do not prorate for holidays, winter or spring break but also do not charge beyond our recital fee for extra rehearsals. Should you decide to drop a class(es), in order to not be charged for the class, you must drop it before the month begins.
Family Discount:
Dancer with most hours registered will pay full tuition then the additional dancer will receive 10% off their monthly tuition. If you have more than 2 dancers in your family, the dancer with the least number of hours per week will receive the discount. One discount per family. Families also have a discounted registration fee.
Class Observation:
All of our classes are closed to observation. The final 5 minutes of class you are welcome to sit along the mirror. Spectators in the studio can be a distraction and we want to respect our dancers and their desire to express themselves freely. We are asking all students to arrive 5 minutes before their registered class and would appreciate it if they sit quietly behind the wall in our lobby area, however, ask that they not interact with students in the current class or their teacher until class is dismissed. We would also appreciate you refrain from taking pictures or videotaping without permission. Anything you do post with permission, please tag us!
WhatsApp:
Each teacher will have a WhatsApp for their class(es). Teachers will have a QR code to scan for access to their class. We encourage everyone to download the app so your child can practice the dances at home and feel prepared for their next class!
Tuition Payments:
Your monthly tuition can be found in your parent portal, Studio Director. Each family will receive a reminder email around the 25th of each month indicating payments are due. Monthly payments are due by the first of each month. We accept all debit/credit cards (2.9% surcharge), Venmo (1.9% fee), checks made out to Unity School of Dance (include dancer's name in memo), cash and money orders. A drop box for check and cash payments is located near the front door of the studio for your convenience. If dropping payment outside of studio hours, you can drop in the mail slot near the left door of the face of the studio. If you are paying via cash, please be sure to see the front desk to write a receipt for your payment.
There will be a $10.00 late charge for any payments received after the 5th of every month and a $25.00 charge for returned checks. Any family with a balance of more than 30-days late, may be dropped from their classes and their spot filled from the waitlist. If not dropped, they may also be asked to use auto pay for the remainder of the year (credit card fees will apply). Dancers with outstanding balances are not able to perform at our recitals or company shows.
Costumes and Recital Fees:
There will be a costume fee for each dance performed at our end of year recital. Each class will typically have two dances in the June recital. More details to come throughout the year. We also have a $45 recital fee (includes 2 tickets to show of choice per dancer which is typically due at the beginning of May.
Prorated, Refund Policy and Missed Classes:
Unity does not offer refunds. We also do not prorate for missed classes. For missed classes, we encourage you to take a make-up class of the same style and level. If you miss too many classes, you may want to schedule a private lesson with your teacher. Those rates per hour vary and should be scheduled directly with the teacher. Please see the welcome letter for more info on make-up classes. If a student drops from a class during the year we will unfortunately not be able to add them back into the class if they return. We do not charge for extra rehearsals if a class needs one during the year due to a performance or any other reason.
Canceled Classes Due to Low Enrollment:
All classes that do not have a minimum of four (4) students enrolled, may be canceled at Eileen’s discretion. If a class is canceled, you will be asked to enroll in another class that is age/level appropriate. If this new class schedule does not work for you, you will be issued a prorated refund.
Holidays and Canceled Classes:
We are closed for Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring Break. If we must close due to weather, we will send out an email as well as update our social media(s). We do not refund/prorate for weather closure and our make-up policy still applies. If we have to cancel a lesson due to studio conflict or illness, we will attempt to schedule a make-up day and time for that class. If you are unable to make the new day/time, you may ask about taking a different class as a make-up. We do not offer discounts or prorate tuition for these very rare occasions.
